Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Serve as frontline fundraiser managing an assigned portfolio of alumni prospects.

  • Conduct personal visits, virtual meetings, and donor engagement activities.
  • Lead Class Reunion Program and collaborate with reunion committees.
  • Recruit, train, and support alumni volunteers and regional leaders.
  • Partner with campus units to engage alumni as mentors, recruiters, speakers.
  • Create opportunities linking students, alumni, and donors for engagement.
  • Represent alumni engagement at Homecoming, Founders’ Day, and other events.
  • Maintain CRM records and generate fundraising/activity reports.

Job Summary

The Director of Alumni Engagement is a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Engagement and serves as a frontline fundraising professional responsible for increasing philanthropic support from Tuskegee University alumni. The Director develops and implements strategies that strengthen lifelong alumni engagement while advancing the University’s fundraising priorities through relationship‑building, volunteer leadership, alumni programming, career engagement initiatives, and strategic donor cultivation. The Director manages an assigned portfolio of alumni prospects and leads the University’s Class Reunion Program while cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding leadership annual and major gift donors.

  • Serve as a frontline fundraiser responsible for managing an assigned portfolio of alumni prospects.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual and major gift donors.
  • Develop individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for assigned prospects.
  • Conduct personal visits, virtual meetings, and donor engagement activities to secure philanthropic support.
  • Develop alumni engagement initiatives that increase alumni participation, volunteerism, and philanthropic investment.
  • Manage the University’s Class Reunion Program and partner with reunion committees to strengthen engagement and reunion giving.
  • Recruit, train, and support alumni volunteers, regional chapter leaders, affinity groups, and alumni ambassadors.
  • Partner with Career Services, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and academic units to engage alumni as mentors, employers, recruiters, internship providers, guest speakers, and volunteers.
  • Develop opportunities connecting prospective students, current students, and alumni to strengthen recruitment, student success, career readiness, and lifelong engagement.
  • Serve as a key Division representative for alumni engagement and fundraising activities during Homecoming, Founders’ Day, Commencement, Reunion Weekend, and other institutional events.
  • Maintain accurate constituent records in the CRM and prepare reports supporting fundraising and engagement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, alumni engagement, business development, sales, relationship management, career services, enrollment management, student affairs, higher education, nonprofit management, marketing, external relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success building strategic relationships and achieving measurable fundraising, business development, enrollment, engagement, or organizational goals.
  • Experience collaborating across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
