Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Director of Engineering for Claris AI Services in Sunnyvale, CA. You will own the engineering strategy for a new AI-native cloud service, leading an end-to-end team responsible for AI pipelines, data platforms, web app, APIs, and gateway integration.

You will partner with product, program management, design, QA, and security to deliver releases every sprint, ensuring security and AI privacy reviews are addressed while maintaining high quality and velocity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years managing software engineering teams and leading high-performing teams.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including cloud-based SaaS product development.
• Proven track record shipping customer-facing SaaS products on a regular release cadence.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering strategy and execution for the service across AI layer, data connectivity, data platform, frontend, and API layers.
• Build, mentor, and lead the Claris Cloud Services engineering team; grow technical leadership.
• Drive AI architecture of the product: retrieval, model orchestration, prompt and pipeline quality, cost and latency management.
• Own reliability and operational readiness for a multi-tenant SaaS service; availability targets, observability, incident response.
• Ensure product meets security, privacy, compliance, and data protection standards; partner with security and AI privacy reviewers.
• Run a predictable delivery system with clear prioritization, credible commitments, and release discipline.
