Job summary

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals seeks a highly technical Director of Artificial Intelligence to expand AI capabilities across Research. You will lead a focused team to design agentic workflows for siRNA discovery, embedding AI into daily scientific workflows and enabling faster, scalable discovery processes.

This hands-on leadership role blends computational biology, AI/ML, and platform design, partnering with Research and IT to deliver enterprise solutions across AWS and GCP environments.

Qualifications

• PhD (or MS with equivalent) in Computational Biology, CS, AI/ML, or related field.
• 10+ years applying AI/ML in industry, preferably drug discovery.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering AI-driven platforms.

Responsibilities

• Embed AI into day-to-day scientific workflows in collaboration with Research teams.
• Architect and deploy multi-agent systems to automate research activities.
• Lead AI strategy and drive adoption to improve speed and scalability of research.
• Recruit and develop a 3–5 person interdisciplinary AI team.
• Collaborate with IT to integrate AI workflows into enterprise data platforms.
