Job summary

Texas A&M University’s High Performance Research Computing (HPRC) seeks a Director for Emerging Technologies and Research to lead AI/HPC initiatives, oversee research and user services, and build strategic collaborations across campus and nationally. The ideal candidate has a strong HPC, AI and data science background, a track record of managing large teams, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a science/engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ten years of progressively responsible management experience in research computing or computational sciences including three years of supervisory experience, and experience using High Performance Computing (HPC) systems with an emphasis on distributed computing technologies and computational methods and experience with NSF-funded or other major national or international HPC systems such as ACCESS.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation support to faculty, staff, and students in the use of scientific software applications and HPC technologies.
• Leads proposal development and research collaborations for funded programs.
• Oversees HPRC user services, budget planning, and strategic operations.
• Represents HPRC at local, regional, and national events.
