Capital One seeks a Director of AI Engineering (Remote Eligible) to lead the platform powering large‑scale AI training and deployment. You will own distributed training, fine‑tuning, and governance across teams, partnering with researchers, engineers, and product managers to deliver AI‑driven banking solutions.

You will scale GPU infrastructure, drive cost efficiency, establish responsible AI practices, and mentor a multi‑disciplinary team while aligning with enterprise strategy and regulatory

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in CS/AI/EE/CE with 8+ years in AI/ML
• 3+ years of people leadership experience
• Experience building and leading an AI platform or large‑scale ML infrastructure

Responsabilidades

• Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI‑powered products and experiences
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of core AI platform systems
• Make build‑vs‑buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies
• Invent and apply scalable techniques for large‑scale distributed training and fine‑tuning
• Own GPU capacity planning and cost governance for training workloads
• Contribute to long‑term AI foundation strategy and roadmaps
• Mentor and develop talent within the AI engineering team
• Translate enterprise AI strategy into portfolio execution plans
• Scale engineering practices with shared infrastructure and governance frameworks
• Establish enterprise standard for Responsible AI and audit readiness
• Partner with research, compliance, and risk teams on regulatory standards
