Capital One is seeking a Director, AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead AI/ML initiatives that transform banking experiences. You will partner with engineers, researchers, and product managers to build AI-powered products and scalable infrastructure.

You will oversee model training, inference, governance, and observability, while driving responsible AI practices and talent development across multiple teams. Remote eligibility broadens collaboration across locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field with 6–8 years of AI/ML experience.
3+ years of people leadership experience.
Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms.
Strong foundation in engineering and mathematics, with expertise in hardware, software, and AI.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products.
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components.
Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
Innovate foundation model optimization techniques for performance and cost.
Contribute to the long-term AI platform roadmap.
Scale AI practices across teams through shared infrastructure and governance.
