Job summary

Structure Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking a Director of AI Engineering to build and scale production AI capabilities across drug discovery, clinical development, manufacturing, and business operations.

This hands‑on leader will code, review, and deploy production AI applications and contribute to architecture and strategy. The role blends technical execution with leadership, guiding a focused team while collaborating with scientists, product, data, and business leaders to deliver measurable value

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Engineering, MBA a plus.
• Eight or more years of combined experience in AI, ML, software engineering, data science, or computational research.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL, including testing, debugging, API development, and code review.
• Experience building generative‑AI or LLM applications using retrieval, structured generation, tool use, fine‑tuning, or agentic workflows.
• Experience designing or operating a shared AI or machine‑learning platform.
• Strong understanding of the ML lifecycle: data prep, experimentation, validation, deployment, monitoring, retraining.
• Experience with cloud AI and data infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of containerization, distributed computing, CI/CD, model serving, observability, and production software practices.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and translate user needs into shipped capabilities.
• Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production AI applications, writing and deploying production AI services and components.
• Develop generative AI solutions for scientific search, study design, document generation, knowledge retrieval, and workflow automation.
• Build retrieval‑augmented generation, semantic search, tool‑calling, and agentic workflows.
• Fine‑tune models and create human‑in‑the‑loop validation workflows for regulated use cases.
• Prototype with scientists and productionize value‑demonstrating solutions.
• Build and evolve a centralized AI platform with shared services for model access and workflow management.
• Design systems supporting foundation models, cloud AI services, specialized scientific models, and open‑source models.
• Develop production APIs and integration patterns with scientific, clinical, and enterprise systems.
• Establish CI/CD processes, monitoring, and evaluation for AI systems.
