Job summary

Meta's Central Security team seeks a Director of Software Engineering to lead identity and access management across our global infrastructure. You will oversee a cross-functional group of engineers, security experts, and program managers, delivering secure-by-design AI/ML systems and scalable controls.

You will partner with product, infrastructure, and legal teams to balance security with velocity, drive automated access policies, and communicate risk decisions to senior leadership, including

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering focusing on security, identity, or infra systems.
• 7+ years in engineering management, including managing managers.
• Proven track record building and scaling engineering orgs with recruiting and development.
• Experience partnering with product, design, and data science to deliver large-scale outcomes.
• Ability to reason with metrics, data, and trade-offs under uncertainty.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year strategy for identity, authentication, and access across infrastructure.
• Lead development of agent identity and authorization models for AI agents.
• Build and scale a distributed, multi-site software security org.
• Partner with Security, Infrastructure, HR, Legal to balance security and velocity.
• Represent IAM perspectives to executives and advocate for investments.
• Drive measurable reduction in access-related security incidents.
• Automate access controls to replace manual review processes.
• Define and enforce access policy for regulatory compliance.
• Develop controls for geographic expansion into higher-threat regions.
• Serve as escalation point for urgent identity and access issues.
