Job summary

Meta is seeking a Director Software Engineering for Central Security to lead identity, authentication, and access management across its infrastructure. You will shape multi-year strategy, build scalable AI-enabled security controls, and lead a global team of software and security engineers.

Collaborate with product, HR, legal, and enterprise teams to balance security with operational velocity. You will drive automation of access controls, partner with executive leadership, and ensure compliance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on security, identity, or infrastructure systems.
• 7+ years of engineering management experience, including managing engineering managers.
• Track record of building and scaling engineering organizations, including recruiting, developing, and managing engineers and leaders.
• Experience forming cross-functional partnerships across product, design, and data science to deliver large-scale outcomes.
• Experience reasoning with metrics and data, including understanding statistical uncertainty, bias, and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-year technical strategy for identity, authentication, and access management across Meta's infrastructure.
• Lead development of an adopted model for agent identity and authorization as AI agents act on behalf of users.
• Build and scale a distributed, multi-disciplinary organization across global sites.
• Partner with Security, Infrastructure, HR, Legal, and other teams to translate business requirements into security vs. velocity trade-offs.
• Represent identity/access perspectives to leadership (CTO, CISO) and advocate for investments and risk decisions.
• Drive measurable reduction in access-related incidents by addressing root causes.
• Lead efforts to replace manual access approval with automated controls at scale.
• Define and enforce access policy supporting regulatory obligations.
• Develop technical controls for geographic expansion into higher-threat environments.
• Serve as escalation point for urgent and confidential escalations related to identity/access.
