Job summary

Calqulate Metrics Ltd is seeking a Director of AI & Automation in San Diego to own the AI strategy, data infrastructure, and team build from scratch. This player-coach role requires setting architecture decisions while executing hands-on work to deliver client results.

Responsibilities include leading data governance, cloud data warehouse design, and end-to-end ELT/ETL pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and Python.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in data engineering/architecture, with 3–5+ years in senior leadership
• Hands-on experience with modern data stacks and data governance
• Proficiency in SQL and Python with production pipelines
• Experience deploying AI/ML solutions in production
• CRM/ERP/retail data familiarity and lifecycle tooling
• Ability to hire and manage distributed or offshore teams
• Spanish language proficiency with LATAM leadership experience
• Experience presenting strategy to executives

Responsibilities

• Define and drive AI and data strategy across the business
• Architect and oversee cloud-native data warehouse solutions for scale and cost efficiency
• Design ELT/ETL pipelines using dbt, Airflow, and related tools
• Lead customer-facing AI implementations across CRM and sales systems
• Establish data governance standards, ownership, and quality controls
• Build and lead a lean AI team and collaborate with Latin America resources
• Manage vendor relationships and align technology with ROI goals
• Provide executive-level reporting and strategic guidance
