Job summary

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the role of Director of Advising in the College of Sciences. This leadership position directs advising services for 2,500+ undergraduates and collaborates with faculty and administration to advance student success.

The Director oversees a large team, shapes policy, coordinates curricular alignment, and participates in university committees to promote inclusive access and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the US Department of Education and CHEA.
• Five years of professional work experience in academic advising.
• Five years of supervisory experience in advising/student success.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and Supervision: guiding and evaluating a large team of administrative faculty and staff to support student success.
• Strategic Management: establish and enforce unit policies and ensure center structure meets a high-demand student population.
• Student Support and Advising: provide direct advising to undergraduate and prospective students; ensure consistent advising policies.
• Partnership and Advocacy: represent the Advising Center and College at university-level committees and events to advocate for student needs.
• Curriculum and Policy Collaboration: align advising practices with curricular changes and accreditation requirements.
