Job summary

Dover Behavioral Health System in Dover, Delaware, seeks a Director of Assessments and Referrals to lead the Assessment and Referral Services department, coordinating with medical staff, treatment teams and managed care organizations to optimize admissions and utilization reviews.

You will supervise day-to-day operations, conduct reviews, prepare third-party appeals, and ensure timely discharge communications, with emphasis on compliance, data accuracy, and collaboration to improve patient care

Qualifications

• Minimum MA, MS, MSW in a related field or RN.
• Two (2) years’ experience in behavioral health.
• Two (2) years' management experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct admission reviews with ARS to stay apprised of admissions.
• Conduct concurrent and extended stay reviews on appropriate days.
• Prepare and submit appeals to third party payors with data to support the hospital and patient’s position.
• Call/fax discharge information to insurance companies within 24 hours of discharge.
• Maintain and update logs of reviews and other UR records.
• Communicate third party payor issues to doctor and treatment team.
• Attend daily treatment team meetings to discuss acuity and payer needs.
• Gather information for reviews from patient records and treatment team.
• Explain insurance information to team members, including benefits and levels of care.
• Perform internal utilization reviews as indicated.
• Identify and report abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities.
