Job summary

Dover Behavioral Health System in Dover, DE seeks a Full-Time Admissions Counselor to deliver high-quality assessment and admissions services to the public. The role includes crisis intervention, coordination of admissions, and communicating with providers and insurers.

You will work with patients and families to ease the admission process and participate in discharge planning. A benefits package with medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off is included.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification is required.
• Behavioral Health/Psychiatric experience is preferred.
• Mental Health Screener Certification is preferred and can be obtained with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric and/or chemical dependency assessments and crisis intervention.
• Provide service to physicians, allied health professionals, hospital emergency departments, schools, and the public.
• Respond to inquiries seeking mental health care or information and direct to appropriate level of care.
• Document crisis calls and intake information for tracking and analysis.
• Coordinate admissions from other facilities and treatment centers.
• Assist patients and families in adjusting to hospital admissions and explain emotional/social responses.
• Develop crisis safety plans and coordinate discharge plans from the Assessment and Referral Center.
• Provide thorough clinical information to insurance companies to meet service requirements.
