Job summary

The School of the Blessed Sacrament (SBS) in New York City seeks a Director of Admissions to lead all facets of the admissions process, from inquiries through enrollment decisions, while promoting SBS’s mission to prospective families.

The role involves developing relationships with families, coordinating Open Houses and tours, and collaborating with the ADNY enrollment and financial aid offices to achieve enrollment goals. Evening/weekend events are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in admissions, school administration, sales, or marketing is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to promote SBS mission and programs to prospective families.
  • Ability to manage parent and student expectations with honesty and diplomacy.
  • Ability to cultivate and strengthen partnerships and relationships.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Evening and weekend availability for admission events.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Admissions process from inquiries to acceptance decisions.
  • Communicate SBS missions and programs to prospective and current families.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, schools, partners, and consultants.
  • Coordinate admissions events: tours, Open Houses, and new family events.
  • Maintain and update prospective student files and online admissions databases.
  • Collaborate with ADNY enrollment and financial aid offices.
  • Ensure smooth transitions for new students and families into the school community.
  • Support enrollment and marketing efforts to meet targeted goals.
  • Track transcript requests and manage records releases for transfers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Director of Admissions plays a vital role in representing and promoting The School of the Blessed Sacrament (SBS) and its mission to prospective families and the broader community. The Director of Admissions manages and directs all aspects of admissions including recruitment, acceptance, retainment, and financial aid. The Director of Admissions is a member of the leadership team of The School of the Blessed Sacrament.

The Director of Admissions plays a vital role in representing and promoting The School of the Blessed Sacrament (SBS) and its mission to prospective families and the broader community. The Director of Admissions manages and directs all aspects of admissions including recruitment, acceptance, retainment, and financial aid. The Director of Admissions is a member of the leadership team of The School of the Blessed Sacrament.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage and participate in all aspects of the Admissions process: engaging inquiries and applications from prospective families, leading tours, coordinating and participating in screenings, family visits and playgroups, notifying families of acceptance decisions, and effectively communicating with parents and administration through all stages of the prospective families' admissions journey
  • Understand and creatively communicate the missions of the school, the educational programing including the curriculum at all levels, the value of an SBS education and the school's exciting and innovative programming to prospective and current families
  • Proactively establish and maintain positive relationships with prospective families, as well as other local educational institutions, partners, and consultants
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in all aspects of developing Admissions' events, including but not limited to tours, Open Houses, new family welcome events, as well as other outreach and retention events
  • Collect, track, and create prospective student files to present to the Heads of Upper and Lower Schools for admissions decisions
  • Maintain and update online admissions database
  • Collaborate with ADNY enrollment and financial aid office
  • Provide new students and families a smooth and welcoming transition and entrance to our school community
  • Collaborate with the Administrative Team on meeting targeted enrollment, retention efforts, and marketing campaigns
  • Track and collect transcript requests and manage records releases for student transfers
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area (advanced degree preferred)
  • Previous leadership experience in admissions, school administration, sales, or marketing preferred
  • Demonstrate excellent, interpersonal communication skills with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to promote and clearly communicate the mission and educational programs and offerings of SBS
  • Ability to understand the needs and concerns of prospective families and communicate how SBS programs and offerings meet those needs
  • Ability to manage parent and student expectations and communicate in an honest, caring, and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to comfortably initiate and cultivate new and strengthen existing relationships and partnerships
  • Detail oriented with the capability to organize, plan, manage, and work simultaneously on multiple projects and follow through to completion
  • Evening and weekend availability as necessary for admission events

The School of the Blessed Sacrament has two campuses located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, educating students from PreK 3 through eighth grade.
