Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. in Chicago seeks a Director Actuary to lead a team of actuaries in the P&C Programs Insurance Business Unit. You will deliver actuarial insights, lead pricing analyses and partner with business leaders to monitor profitability and health of the portfolio.

Qualifications

• P&C Actuarial qualifications: ACAS, FCAS, or similarly qualified professional
• 6+ years of relevant experience, demonstrated ability in actuarial and quantitative analysis and statistical concepts
• Business Acumen: In-depth understanding of underwriting, products, reinsurance, claims and financials
• Software skills: Python, SQL, VBA for building tools and advanced research
• Leadership: leadership, mentorship and influence across teams
• Communication and Partnership: Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills

Responsibilities

• Profitability Reviews/New Submission Analyses: Review products using actuarial concepts to determine profitability and segment performance
• Monitor and Reporting: Track rate changes, pricing adequacy and underwriting mix for new/renewal business
• Actuarial Studies: Analyze and research pricing parameters and segmentations to identify profitable opportunities
• Large Account Pricing: Provide actuarial premium recommendations on large accounts
• Tool Building: Design, program and maintain pricing and monitoring tools
• Partnering with Strategic Analytics: Collaborate with predictive modeling teams to deploy analytics and automation
