Job summary

Ascendo Resources partners with a respected professional services organization to appoint a Director of Accounting & Financial Operations. This hands-on leader will own financial reporting, budgeting, and the annual planning cycle, building a structured, technology-enabled finance function.

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll guide the accounting team, strengthen controls, and drive process improvements while remaining closely connected to execution. Relocation is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years progressive accounting experience.
• 5+ years leading accounting teams.
• Experience personally preparing financial statements and supporting workpapers.
• Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling and budgeting.
• Experience building documentation standards, workflows, and internal controls.
• Proven success leading teams while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Personally prepare monthly and annual financial statements, supporting schedules, and workpapers.
• Lead month-end and year-end close with focus on accuracy and accountability.
• Produce executive-ready financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Lead the annual budgeting process from start to finish.
• Develop and maintain Excel-based financial models.
• Support forecasting, allocation modeling, and planning initiatives.
• Provide leadership for the accounting function, overseeing the Controller and team.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Establish documentation standards, workpaper requirements, and structured reviews.
