Job summary

UpCounting seeks a senior leader to own accounting delivery for ecommerce clients. You will drive client experience, technical process efficiency, and the performance of the delivery team, while owning the software and tooling that powers the services function.

You will manage complex, high-visibility engagements, ensuring accuracy, quality, and scalable SOPs. This role requires hands-on accounting depth and strong communication with North American founders.

Qualifications

• At least 90% of your career in public accounting firms: Big 4, mid-tier, regional, or boutique.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting services or delivery leadership
• Experience leading accounting delivery teams
• Hands-on technical accounting knowledge, not only management experience
• You have owned client relationships: managing expectations, delivering bad news, and spotting service quality issues before the client does
• You have defined and built a function yourself, without one being handed to you
• English at C1 or above level, written and spoken. You own client relationships with North American founders.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical SOPs: templates, Shopify, TikTok Shop and Amazon integrations, report extraction, A2X versus Bookkeep, and keep improving them
• Own client experience: check-ins, service quality, upsell opportunities, and feedback from clients back to the team
• Work with the Accounting Quality Manager to keep the chain tight: QC findings trace back to training, training gaps trace back to how we hire
• Keep workloads sustainable, flag early when people are struggling, and build systems that surface problems before they become crises
• Own the software and tooling for the services function: what we need, what is redundant, and what it costs

Job description

Hours: Full overlap with EST, 9 am to 5 pm. This role is client-facing, and the hours are non-negotiable.

Location: Remote, LATAM

The role

You own accounting delivery: client experience, technical process efficiency, delivery quality, and the performance of the delivery team. You decide how the work gets done, you make sure it is done well, and you own the client relationship around it.

Our clients are 7- to 9-figure eCommerce brands. You lead the delivery teams and work alongside our Accounting Quality Manager, who owns technical evaluation, training, and QC. You also own the software and tooling the services function runs on. Today this is part of a broader multi-hat role, and parts of it, like client feedback and early warning on team strain, have no single owner.

You work full EST hours because you are in direct contact with founders and your team throughout the day. This is a hands-on role. You need the technical depth to review the work yourself, not only to manage the people doing it.

Must have

• At least 90% of your career in public accounting firms: Big 4, mid-tier, regional, or boutique. Industry accounting, inside a single company's finance team, does not count.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting services or delivery leadership
• Experience leading accounting delivery teams
• Hands-on technical accounting knowledge, not only management experience
• You have owned client relationships: managing expectations, delivering bad news, and spotting service quality issues before the client does
• You have defined and built a function yourself, without one being handed to you
• English at C1 or above level, written and spoken. You own client relationships with North American founders.

Nice to have

• eCommerce accounting experience: Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop integrations
• A2X, Bookkeep, or similar eCommerce accounting tools
• A track record as an exceptional people manager
• Hands-on experience building or improving SOPs and process documentation
• VP-level capability: strategic work beyond delivery

What you will do

What the job actually looks like

• Month-end is the most demanding period and falls within the first ten business days. It eases considerably after that.
• You get real ownership from day one. That is the upside and the expectation.
• Client check-ins and team workload reviews are recurring, not occasional.
• The accuracy is already there. Your job is making accurate work more efficient. Some processes are mature, and client experience and team health monitoring are still being built.
