Job summary

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a Director of Accounting / Controller for a publicly traded life sciences company in the Greater Boston area. This onsite role offers broad responsibility across corporate accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, and financial operations.

You will lead close processes, oversee R&D accounting, support SEC reporting, and manage equity and other complex transactions while partnering with senior leadership to strengthen controls and drive

Qualifications

• Public accounting background required; Big 4 preferred.
• Biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience required.
• Strong U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and technical accounting background.
• Public company and SOX experience.
• Hands-on, proactive accounting leader with strong communication and leadership skills.
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including general ledger, consolidations, and financial reporting.
• Oversee accounting for R&D activities and other industry-specific transactions.
• Support SEC reporting, technical accounting, and SOX compliance.
• Manage complex accounting matters involving equity, stock-based compensation, debt, and other financial instruments.
• Lead external audit activities and strengthen accounting policies, controls, and processes.
• Partner with senior leadership across Finance and other functional areas.
• Drive process improvements and support the continued development of the accounting organization.
