Position Summary

The Director of Accounting serves as a key financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management functions across multiple business units. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations while providing strategic insights to executive leadership. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic vision and hands-on expertise to support continued organizational growth.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team (including Analysts, Specialists, and Associates).
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Set quarterly and annual goals, evaluate team performance, and provide developmental feedback.
• Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking, and financial data.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal financial controls.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and management reports.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and reporting systems.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the development and management of annual and project-based budgets.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic planning and executive decision-making.
• Identify and evaluate financial risks, opportunities, and performance trends.

Cash & Asset Management

• Direct the organization’s cash management strategy, including cash flow forecasting and investments.
• Monitor and manage capital expenditures and asset budgeting.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions.

Mergers, Acquisitions & Risk Management

• Manage accounting aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and related transactions.
• Assess and mitigate financial and operational risks.

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state financial regulations.
• Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee annual audits and coordinate with external partners such as auditors and regulators.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on financial operations and strategy.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with vendors, banks, and external stakeholders to enhance performance and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting software; experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial compliance standards.
• Exceptional leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
