Company Description

Our multi-billion-dollar Distribution client, and one of Orange County’s largest Companies, is searching for a strong Director of Accounting to partner with the Controller and C‑Suite executives. This individual will play a critical role in strengthening accounting operations, enhancing financial processes, and supporting the continued growth of this Company. Their ideal candidate must have a public accounting upbringing and have their CPA license.

Responsibilities

• Lead core accounting operations, including oversight of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and monthly close processes across a complex, multi‑entity environment.
• Ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting while driving consistency, standardization, and efficiency throughout the accounting function.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance scalability, streamline workflows, and improve the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
• Partner closely with Internal Audit and external auditors to support control testing and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Continuously strengthen internal control structures to support organizational growth and increasing operational complexity.
• Direct all aspects of the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met with a high degree of accuracy.
• Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies, including review of key reconciliations and balance sheet integrity.
• Support external audit activities and contribute to the preparation of financial disclosures as needed.
• Lead, manage, and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing mentorship, performance guidance, and career development support.
• Build and maintain a high‑performing, collaborative team culture centered on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Work cross‑functionally with FP&A, operations, and executive leadership to ensure alignment and accuracy in financial reporting and insights.
• Serve as a key accounting advisor on business initiatives, including operational changes, system implementations, and potential acquisitions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related degree
• Public Accounting experience is required
• CPA license is required.
• Manufacturing, Distribution, Construction, and Multi‑Unit industry experience are all deemed good.
• 4+ years of accounting experience in a large Company is preferred.
• Knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams, business leaders, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
