The company operates a dynamic, multi‑entity structure requiring a hands‑on, process‑driven accounting executive capable of building best‑in‑class financial infrastructure and ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance across all business units. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President of Accounting will oversee all facets of corporate and operational accounting, consolidations, and financial reporting. This executive will lead a talented accounting organization, designing scalable systems and processes that align with a public company’s technical, operational, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of GAAP, revenue recognition, franchise or multi‑unit accounting, and is currently working within a publicly traded company. This role will also work closely with finance and operations leadership to support growth initiatives, internal controls development, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger management, consolidations, revenue recognition, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance across all business units.
  • Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures that ensure accuracy, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promote professional development, and build a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to executive leadership and the board, highlighting performance trends and operational insights.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, management reports, and analytical dashboards to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Oversee adherence to federal, state, and international tax regulations, staying informed of changes that impact compliance or reporting standards.
  • Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range strategic financial planning to align with company goals and optimize profitability.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support for complex contracts, transactions, and capital asset management.
  • Manage capital assets and develop tax strategies that maximize efficiency and compliance across all investment activities.
  • Evaluate existing accounting practices, identify opportunities for process improvement, and lead automation and ERP system enhancements (e.g., NetSuite).
  • Drive operational efficiency across revenue, payroll, and intercompany reconciliations through technology and workflow optimization.
  • Develop and implement accounting strategies focused on cost reduction, margin improvement, and overall profitability.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to ensure cross‑functional alignment and accurate, timely financial reporting.
  • Mentor and develop a high‑performing accounting team dedicated to innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA required.
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or large regional) and corporate experience within a multi‑entity publicly traded environment.
  • Demonstrated success in a public company environment and familiarity with SEC reporting standards.
  • Advanced technical accounting knowledge, especially revenue recognition, consolidations, and intercompany eliminations.
  • ERP implementation or optimization experience required; NetSuite preferred, with proficiency in advanced Excel and reporting tools.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through transformation while maintaining strong compliance, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to partner effectively across finance, operations, and executive leadership.
