About This Role
Cyngn is recruiting for a Public Company Director of Accounting and Controller responsible for monthly close activities, external financial reporting, SEC filings, and accounting for equity transactions. The ideal candidate thrives under strict deadlines and enjoys challenging opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Manage general accounting processes including month, quarter, and year-end activities, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Oversee financial statement preparation, review, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Handle tax and external compliance activities.
- Coordinate quarterly and annual report filings (Form 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K).
- Manage recordkeeping and reporting of all equity-based transactions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external parties for report preparation, review, and disclosure compliance.
- Monitor emerging accounting and reporting regulations (SEC, FASB, PCAOB).
- Develop and implement accounting policies and internal controls, including SOX compliance.
- Manage finance team.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA preferred.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- 8-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including as a controller.
- 3+ years SEC reporting experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Private industry and public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and organizational skills.
- Experience with SOX policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with systems like Shareworks, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Vena.
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
Salary Range
- $160,000 to $175,000 base salary (remote options available for SF Bay Area candidates).
