Job summary

Jobtailor in California seeks a senior attorney leader to oversee access-to-justice programs and provide strategic guidance to supervising attorneys and staff. You will partner with legal leadership to align services with organizational priorities, mentor teams, coordinate with courts, bar associations, and funders, and drive program growth.

This role requires a Juris Doctor, active California Bar standing, travel as needed, and a commitment to trauma-responsive, community-centered service.

Qualifications

• JD required
• Active bar membership in good standing in California
• Experience managing and supervising teams of attorneys and staff
• Willingness to travel frequently in service area
• Knowledge of California civil and appellate practice preferred
• Experience in nonprofit or legal aid settings preferred
• Strong project management and grant development skills
• Ability to work with diverse communities and partners

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of access-to-justice programs
• Supervise, mentor, and support supervising attorneys and program staff
• Collaborate with program leaders on strategic planning and service delivery improvements
• Serve as liaison with courts, bar associations, government agencies, and leadership
• Align programs with organizational priorities and strategic objectives
• Coordinate with Finance, HR, Operations, Compliance, and Fund Development on program management
• Monitor trends and performance to inform improvements and growth
• Support grant development and pro bono initiatives
• Represent organization with funders and partners
• Build relationships to strengthen partnerships and impact
• Participate in initiatives advancing equitable access to justice
