Job summary

Farmingdale State College seeks a Director of Academic and Workforce Development Programs to lead the Long Island Educational Opportunity Center (LIEOC).

The role reports to the Dean and is responsible for the overall development, administration and delivery of instructional programs including ESOL, HSE preparation, college preparation, allied health programs, and workforce development training in business and technology.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a related field.
• Five years of experience in an educational area such as CTE, K-12, Allied Health programming, or related instructional environment.
• Three years of supervising, mentoring, or leading other educators.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs that address workforce, academic, and community needs.
• Hire, supervise and evaluate all LIEOC faculty.
• Review, develop, revise, and maintain curriculum for relevance and instructional excellence.
• Promote professional development opportunities and training initiatives for instructors.
• Assist with Brightspace administration to support instruction and student learning.
• Develop and publish the course offerings brochure and Banner schedule each semester.
• Maintain inventories of textbooks and instructional materials and coordinate resource procurement.
• Prepare and submit reports to SUNY System Administration and UCAWD regarding program metrics and outcomes.
• This position requires occasional evening hours, as needed, to support evening faculty.

Job Description

Farmingdale State College seeks a Director of Academic and Workforce Development Programs to join the Long Island Educational Opportunity Center (LIEOC). Reporting to the Dean, the Director is responsible for the overall development, administration and delivery of instructional programs at the LIEOC, including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), High School Equivalency Preparation, College Preparation, Allied Health Programs, and workforce development certification training in business and technology.

Responsibilities Include

• Providing strategic leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality programs that respond to workforce, economic, academic, and community needs.
• Hiring, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating all LIEOC faculty.
• Reviewing, developing, revising, submitting, and maintaining curriculum to ensure program relevance, compliance and instructional excellence.
• Promoting and facilitating professional development opportunities and training initiatives to enhance instruction and student learning.
• Assisting with the administration and effective utilization of Brightspace to support instruction and student learning.
• Developing and publishing the course offerings brochure and Banner schedule each semester.
• Maintaining inventories of textbooks and instructional materials and coordinating the procurement of required resources.
• Preparing and submitting reports to SUNY System Administration and UCAWD regarding program metrics, outcomes, and departmental performance.

This position requires occasional evening hours, as needed, to support evening faculty.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's Degree.
• Five years of experience in an educational area such as CTE, K-12, Allied Health programming, or related instructional environment.
• Three years of experience in supervising, mentoring, or leading other educators.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with workforce development or CTE programs.
• Experience in curriculum development, assessment, or instructional program management.
• Experience in adult education.
• Experience in working with underserved populations.
• Experience with learning management/student management systems.

Additional Information

This is a full-time UUP position.

• For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, September 18, 2026, and ending Thursday, October 1, 2026, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

• SALARY: $80,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $84,000 Compensation.
