Job summary

Avera Marshall Hospital, part of Avera Health, seeks a Director of Nursing Services to provide strategic leadership for long-term care operations and ensure high-quality, resident-centered care. • Oversee the delivery of nursing care and ensure the accuracy and integrity of resident care records.
• Participate in resident admissions by evaluating nursing care needs and available clinical resources.
• Ensure compliance with all Federal and State Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Conditions of Participation, including admissions, MDS processes, restorative nursing, and care delivery.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures that support nursing care, social services, and delegated medical care.
• Collaborate with the Administrator to determine appropriate staffing levels and establish staffing plans that ensure high-quality care 24 hours per day.
• Participate in strategic planning, decision-making, and budget development for the facility.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and coordinate the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
• Promote a safe environment for residents and staff through policy development and oversight of quality and safety initiatives.
• Delegate and monitor responsibilities consistent with staff training, competencies, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate Medicare and Medicaid coverage requirements and compliance activities.
• Ensure comprehensive care plans are developed, implemented, and updated in collaboration with physicians and care teams.
• Oversee discharge planning and resident transition processes.
• Lead employee recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance management, retention, and professional development efforts.
