Summary

The Director of Nursing provides daily operational administration for nursing and other patient care in the Pediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, and Pediatric Intensive Care areas at Westchester Medical Center. The role involves supervising, coordinating, and implementing administrative aspects of the service lines, recommending clinical practice and administrative changes, and overseeing staff and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities include
  1. Supervising, coordinating, and directing nursing and patient care services.
  2. Participating in the evaluation of nursing and clinical practices.
  3. Establishing standards of practice and qualifications for staff.
  4. Implementing nursing policies and procedures.
  5. Developing educational programs and conducting staff evaluations.
  6. Participating in labor-management and hospital committees.
  7. Assisting in budget development and resource allocation.
  8. Participating in quality improvement activities and meetings.
Education and Experience

Possession of a valid NYS RN license, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and six years of pediatric nursing experience, including three years in supervision. A Master's degree in Nursing or related field may substitute for some experience.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing techniques, administration, and regulations.
