Job summary

Freeport‑McMoRan is seeking an experienced leader to drive site-based sustaining capital projects across North America, guiding governance, cost control, and execution to align with asset strategies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 15 years of engineering or project management experience, with a strong track record in large projects and cross-functional collaboration. Based in Phoenix with hybrid work, up to 75% travel domestically and 25% internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle management of sustaining capital projects across multiple North America sites, ensuring alignment with operational needs and long‑term asset strategies.
• Establish and enforce project governance frameworks and provide assurance of scope, schedule, cost, and risk.
• Lead quarterly budget development and partner with finance to optimize capital allocation.
• Oversee AFE strategy ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with business priorities. Monitor project cost performance and establish KPIs and reporting.
• Oversee early‑stage scoping, feasibility, and execution planning.
• Partner with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to drive alignment and perform other duties as required.

Where You Will Work

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in‑person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in‑person collaboration. In‑person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

What You Will Do

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline or related field and fifteen (15) years experience in engineering and/or project management including sustaining capital project delivery.

What We Require
