Where You Will Work

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

What You Will Do

Leads the development, governance, and execution of site-based sustaining capital projects across the North America mining portfolio. Provides strategic oversight of project and portfolio management activities to ensure efficient capital deployment, alignment with business priorities, and delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective projects. Serves as a key interface between site operations, plant engineering, and corporate leadership, driving consistent application of project standards, disciplined capital allocation (including AFE strategy), and strong performance management across sustaining capital initiatives.

  • Lead the full lifecycle management of sustaining capital projects across multiple North America sites, ensuring alignment with operational needs and long‑term asset strategies.
  • Establish and enforce project governance frameworks and provide assurance of scope, schedule, cost, and risk.
  • Lead quarterly budget development and partner with finance to optimize capital allocation.
  • Oversee AFE strategy ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with business priorities. Monitor project cost performance and establish KPIs and reporting.
  • Oversee early-stage scoping, feasibility, and execution planning.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to drive alignment and perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline or related field and fifteen (15) years experience in engineering and/or project management including sustaining capital project delivery
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing large‑scale project portfolio.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and governance.
  • Experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial evaluation.
  • Experience with AFE development and approval processes.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.

Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job‑related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long‑term incentive consideration. Long‑term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company’s plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.

What We Require

Up to 75% travel is required, consisting primarily of domestic travel, with approximately 25% international travel.
