Job summary

California State University, Long Beach is seeking a Director of New Student and Family Programs. The role leads orientation, first- and second-year experiences, and family programs, overseeing staff, budgets, assessment, and strategic planning to improve student belonging and success.

The director collaborates across divisions, ensures data-informed practices, and represents the department in campus initiatives while promoting inclusive excellence and culturally responsive programming.

Qualifications

• Five years of managerial experience; higher education preferred.
• Minimum three years in first-year experience/orientation or related field.
• Experience in collaborative planning, implementation and program evaluation.
• Experience budgeting and cost analysis.
• Progressively responsible student affairs work and strategic planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead New Student and Family Programs, including First- and Second-Year students.
• Direct staff and resources to plan, implement, and evaluate orientation and family programs.
• Oversee coordination of advising/mentoring/coaching for students.
• Collaborate with campus partners to ensure data-driven program effectiveness.
• Represent the department in university-wide committees and initiatives.
