Alaska Communications is seeking a Senior Director of Network Infrastructure & Planning to own Layer 1 network design and planning, including fiber and DC power. You will coordinate with Layer 2/3 teams and translate strategy into actionable infrastructure plans for reliability and growth.

The role emphasizes ownership of Layer 1 outcomes while aligning with business priorities, budgeting, and capital planning for network expansion across the Alaska ACS footprint.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s Degree in related fields, such as Engineering, Business or Construction.
• Twelve (12) years of telecommunications engineering/construction experience.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). Demonstrated proficiency using OSP Insight and AutoCAD.

Mansioni

• Owns end-to-end planning and design accountability for Layer 1 network infrastructure, including OSP fiber, copper, ducts, conduits, poles, handholes, manholes, facility routes, splice plans, capacity, and physical records.
• Owns planning and availability accountability for inside plant infrastructure, including DC power capacity, rack location, rack availability, space readiness, and related dependencies.
• Ensure Layer 1 plans support reliability, route diversity, resiliency, serviceability, maintainability, permitting readiness, and economic utilization.
• Oversees analysis of facilities, route constraints, capacity exhaust, customer demand, traffic growth, and funded project requirements for new construction or augmentation.
• Develops, maintains, and improves sustainable facilities records processes for complete, accurate, timely electronic network records.
• Provides shared accountability for Layer 2 and Layer 3 planning, coordinating with transport, routing, peering, resiliency, and capacity strategies.
• Translates strategic architecture into practical infrastructure needs like site readiness and capital planning inputs.
• Facilitates decision-making when Layer 1 constraints affect Layer 2/3 design, schedule, or budget.
• Develops budgetary inputs, capital forecasts, and business case support for projects.
