Job summary

HiLabs in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Director, Network & Cloud Infrastructure to own design, security, and reliability of enterprise network and multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP). You will ensure high availability, low latency, and HIPAA/SOC 2/HITRUST compliance across on-prem and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• ITIL certification required; CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, or equivalent Cisco certifications strongly preferred.
• 12+ years of experience in network engineering and IT infrastructure, with 5+ years in a Director or senior leadership role.
• Deep expertise in Cisco routing/switching, load balancers, and firewalls (Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA).
• Proven experience architecting and securing cloud-native environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), immutable infrastructure, and observability tooling (Splunk, AppDynamics).
• Strong track record leading network and cloud infrastructure in a healthcare or regulated SaaS environment.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to translate technical risk into business terms for executives.
• Travel willingness for datacenter visits, vendor engagements, and conferences.

Responsibilities

• Own the network and cloud infrastructure strategy, roadmap, and budget.
• Lead observability and monitoring practices (Splunk, AppDynamics) to proactively identify and resolve performance and availability issues.
• Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and disaster recovery for network and cloud outages.
• Ensure network and cloud environments meet HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST compliance requirements.
• Build, mentor, and scale a team of network and cloud engineers.
• Evaluate and manage relationships with network/cloud vendors, ISPs, and managed service providers.

Job Summary:

The Director, Network & Cloud Infrastructure will own the design, security, and reliability of HiLabs' enterprise network and multi-cloud infrastructure. This leader will architect and operate the LAN/WAN, datacenter, and cloud networking foundation (AWS, Azure, GCP) that supports HiLabs' AI-powered healthcare data platforms - ensuring high availability, low latency, and compliance with HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST requirements.

Responsibilities:

Network Architecture and Operations, through:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise LAN/WAN, datacenter, and campus network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and load balancing
• Leading network security architecture, including next-generation firewalls, microsegmentation, and secure remote access (Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA)
• Managing application delivery and load balancing (NGINX) to ensure performance, scalability, and uptime for HiLabs' products

Cloud Infrastructure and Automation, through:

• Architecting secure, scalable cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and GCP to support HiLabs' AI/ML and data platforms
• Driving adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) to enable immutable, repeatable, and auditable infrastructure deployments
• Partnering with engineering to embed network and cloud security controls into CI/CD pipelines

Core Responsibilities:
