Job summary

Planet seeks a Director for Government Affairs based in Washington, D.C., to lead engagement with U.S. national security policy and Congress. The role develops Planet’s government affairs strategy and interfaces with key agencies to advance policy and business priorities.

The position requires coordinating with internal teams, attending meetings with stakeholders, and navigating federal processes. It is a full-time hybrid role based in Arlington, VA, with frequent interactions with government

Qualifications

• Active U.S. security clearance (TS-SCI) or ability to obtain one.
• Direct experience in U.S. national security policy with Congress and federal agencies.
• Strong project, time, and budget management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with lobbying or industry association advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Lead national security engagements with Congress to shape policy and funding opportunities.
• Develop and communicate Planet’s policy positions to government stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Global Government Affairs, Business Development, Sales, and leadership to pursue opportunities.
• Educate stakeholders on Planet’s capabilities and their relevance to national security.
