Job summary

University of New Haven in West Haven, CT seeks a Manager of Military & Veteran Affairs to lead the Office of Military & Veteran Affairs and Veteran Center, coordinating benefits, enrollment, and student success for military-affiliated students.

The role requires strategic leadership, collaboration across campus, and oversight of budgets, programs, and community partnerships to enhance veterans’ educational experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two to four years of relevant experience.
• Prior service in the United States Armed Forces.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel on behalf of the University.
• Availability to work non-traditional hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Knowledge of and appreciation for military/veteran experiences.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with VA, DoD, and state requirements; liaise with State Approving Agency.
• Serve as primary School Certifying Official; manage VA education benefits enrollments.
• Assist students with benefit eligibility and enrollment processes; maintain benefit info in VA, DOD, and University systems.
• Coordinate outreach to military-affiliated students; partner with Student Success and One Stop for support.
• Lead the Office of Military & Veteran Affairs; manage Veteran Center and VA Work Study program.
• Plan events and trainings; distribute OMVA newsletter; manage budgets and resources.
