Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in educational assessment, evaluation, medical education, or academic program administration.
• Commitment to BYU mission and values.
• Experience with NBME assessments and USMLE data preferred.
• Experience leading assessment or accreditation committees preferred.
• Experience with psychometric analysis preferred.
• Experience implementing assessment platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of assessment systems across all three phases of the MD curriculum.
• Ensure assessments measure cognitive achievement, competency attainment, and progression toward graduation outcomes.
• Maintain alignment between internal summative Phase 1 exams, clerkship assessments, and program-level assessments.
• Oversee and develop a programmatic assessment framework integrating multiple measures of learner performance across all phases.
• Provide strategic oversight for assessment planning and personnel.
• Develop policies and guidelines related to student assessment, grading, remediation, progression, and promotion.
• Ensure LCME accreditation standards compliance and serve as assessment SME for Curriculum Committee.
• Oversee collection, integration, validation, analysis, and reporting of assessment data across the curriculum.
• Monitor dashboards and reports to support academic decision‑making and curriculum improvement.
• Lead examination administration, scheduling, accommodations, security, and delivery platforms ( VidaNova, NBME systems).
• Collaborate with faculty to align assessments with instructional strategies and provide training on assessment literacy.
• Educate students regarding assessment expectations and reporting of performance.
