Job summary

Grocery Outlet seeks a Director of Data Governance to lead our master data governance program. You will define data fields and standards for vendor, item, and purchase order data, and implement native governance in SAP while balancing speed of opportunistic buying.

You will partner with Merchandising, Finance/FP&A, IT, and Store Ops to establish clear ownership and embed governance into day-to-day workflows, building a scalable governance model and leading a small team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in master data management, data governance, data/process management, or related fields.
• Hands-on SAP master data experience (vendor master, material/item master, purchasing) is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in complex, matrixed organizations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the master data governance program across vendor, item, cost, retail, and PO data.
• Define data fields, standards, and onboarding processes in SAP.
• Establish data ownership, data stewardship, and governance controls across the enterprise.
• Remediate existing bad data and implement data quality KPIs tied to business impact.
• Balance data quality with speed of opportunistic purchasing.
