Job summary

Jobtailor in Boston, MA is seeking a senior philanthropy leader to design and execute a comprehensive major gifts strategy, focusing on principal gift development and donor cultivation.

You will establish priorities, timelines, and a robust prospect pipeline with leadership, manage a portfolio of 125 major gift prospects, and work with department chairs, physicians, researchers, and volunteers to advance funding goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 10+ years related work experience in development with an established track record of major gifts.
• 0-1 years supervisory/management experience.
• Solid volunteer management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and successfully utilize volunteers in achieving fundraising goals.
• Demonstrated success in personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and/or annual fund gifts.
• Ability to travel.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and adjust to other departmental needs.
• Written and oral communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement a comprehensive major and principal gift strategy.
• Establish fundraising priorities, goals, timelines, and prospect-pipeline plans with BILH leadership.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts ($25,000+) prospects and donors.
• Devise and manage creative strategies to engage key prospects and achieve funding goals.
• Build relationships with department chairs, division chiefs, senior physicians, researchers, and other key staff.
• Prepare and direct major proposals, solicitation letters, and other donor materials.
• Build and manage a portfolio of 125 major gift prospects and donors.
• Develop individually tailored gift strategies with the Vice President of Philanthropy and volunteer leaders.
• Support strategic planning and implementation of divisional goals.
• Direct and support employees' daily work activities.
• Handle hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews for direct reports.
• Manage 2-3 direct reports.
