Job summary

Pregis seeks a Director of Maintenance Excellence to establish and deploy the enterprise maintenance, reliability, and asset management strategy across a multi-site manufacturing network. You will define vision, standards, and roadmaps to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and maintenance cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering or related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive maintenance, reliability, engineering, or manufacturing leadership experience.
• Experience leading maintenance or reliability programs in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success implementing TPM, reliability-centered maintenance, predictive maintenance, or operational excellence initiatives.

Director, Maintenance Excellence

Operations Center of Excellence

Position Summary

The Director, Maintenance Excellence is responsible for establishing and deploying Pregis' enterprise maintenance, reliability, and asset management strategy across a multi-site manufacturing network. As a leader within the Operations Center of Excellence, this role will define the vision, standards, and roadmap that improve equipment reliability, increase uptime, reduce maintenance costs, and support long-term business growth.

This role leads through influence, partnering closely with Operations Directors, Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, and Engineering, teams to drive consistent maintenance practices and operational excellence across the network.

A critical responsibility of this role is to own and lead Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) excellence across Pregis, ensuring TPM becomes a foundational capability of the Pregis Production System and is consistently deployed across all manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Maintenance & Reliability Strategy

• Develop and execute the enterprise Maintenance and Reliability strategy aligned with Pregis growth and operational objectives.
• Establish network-wide maintenance standards, reliability practices, asset management processes, and KPIs.
• Create multi-year roadmaps focused on reliability, predictive maintenance, maintenance productivity, and asset lifecycle management.
• Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for maintenance and reliability excellence.

TPM & Operational Excellence

• Own and drive the TPM strategy across the manufacturing network.
• Establish TPM standards, governance, assessments, training, and maturity models.
• Partner with Operations leaders to embed TPM principles into daily management systems and the Pregis Production System (PPS).
• Lead efforts to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce downtime, and increase asset utilization.
• Identify, standardize, and deploy best practices across manufacturing locations.

Reliability & Asset Performance

• Improve equipment uptime, reliability, and maintenance effectiveness across the network.
• Drive predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
• Lead root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives for critical assets.
• Develop strategies to optimize spare parts inventory, maintenance planning, and asset lifecycle management.

Capital & Technology Strategy

• Develop the maintenance technology roadmap, including CMMS optimization, predictive analytics, and digital maintenance solutions.
• Support major capital investments, equipment upgrades, and manufacturing modernization initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies that improve reliability, maintenance efficiency, and operational performance.

Enterprise Influence & Collaboration

• Partner with Operations Directors, Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and EHS teams.
• Lead through influence to drive adoption of standards and best practices.
• Build organizational capability through maintenance training, coaching, and development programs.
• Ensure maintenance initiatives deliver measurable operational and financial impact.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline, required.
• 15+ years of progressive maintenance, reliability, engineering, or manufacturing leadership experience.
• Experience leading maintenance or reliability programs in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success implementing TPM, reliability-centered maintenance, predictive maintenance, or operational excellence initiatives.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis’ total compensation package. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $185,000 - $225,000, depending on experience and skills.
