Job summary

SAFCO, a growing indirect automotive finance leader, seeks a Director, Loss Mitigation to lead loss mitigation, insurance, and specialty collections. This onsite role is based in Pompano Beach, FL, with relocation support for South Florida candidates.

Responsibilities include driving portfolio performance, managing KPIs, and building the collections strategy with lawful recovery partners. Strong leadership, analytics, and stakeholder management are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in collections, automotive finance, consumer lending, or specialty finance.
• Proven success leading collections or call center operations in a high-volume environment.
• Experience leveraging analytics, reporting, and technology to improve operational performance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive organizational change.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and business systems; experience with NLS or similar servicing platforms preferred.
• Experience with SQL, business intelligence tools, and data analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute initiatives that improve portfolio performance, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes.
• Establish, monitor, and manage departmental KPIs and performance metrics.
• Design new processes in the total loss and insurance department to increase recoveries, oversee cancellation of insurance products and refunds, and track insurance coverage on existing portfolio.
• Build out an internal deficiency collections team as well as a third party collections and debt sale strategy.
• Work with collection law firms to rollout a litigation and legal recovery strategy.
• Apply best practices in bankruptcy collections ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts through process redesign, workflow optimization, and technology enhancements.
• Manage dialer campaigns and contact strategy for post-charge off and total loss accounts.
• Develop, mentor, and inspire leaders and team members while fostering a culture of accountability and customer service excellence.
• Participate with early stage and mid stage collections teams to maximize recoveries and lower overall delinquency.

Southern Auto Finance Company (SAFCO) is a growing and innovative leader in the indirect automotive finance industry. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director, Loss Mitigation to lead our loss mitigation and specialty collections teams including insurance, total loss, bankruptcy, recovery, remarketing, and impounds.

This position is based at our headquarters in Pompano Beach, Florida and requires onsite attendance five days per week. Candidates must currently reside in South Florida or be willing to relocate. We do offer a relocation bonus.
