Job summary

Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY, seeks a Director of Library Services to provide strategic leadership for MCC Libraries across Brighton and Downtown campuses. The role focuses on budgets, services, and embracing AI literacy to support student achievement and workforce readiness.

The Director collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to align library services with teaching and learning goals, while advancing open educational resources and equitable access.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in an academic library, including leadership, supervision, strategic planning, and budget management.
• Demonstrated knowledge of trends in academic librarianship, information literacy, digital literacy, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence.
• Experience with policy development, planning, budget administration, personnel management, and organizational leadership.
• Ability to use assessment, data, and evidence-based practices to inform decision-making and improve services.
• Ability to build collaborative partnerships and lead cross-functional initiatives in support of teaching, learning, and student success.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience delivering public services in an academic library and supporting student success initiatives.
• Proficiency with higher education technologies, library technologies, and enterprise information systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Library Services, including strategic planning, assessment, budget development, personnel management, collection development, technologies, and learning environments.
• Lead ongoing review and implementation of MCC Libraries Mission and Vision to stay aligned with higher education trends.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and administrators to support teaching, learning, and student achievement.
• Advocate for information, digital, and AI literacy and for ethical use of emerging technologies.
• Lead open educational resources (OER) and affordable learning initiatives to widen access to materials.
• Partner with campus services to develop integrated academic support for students.
• Engage with SUNY and library organizations to advance MCC’s mission and goals.
• Monitor trends and use data to improve library effectiveness and inform accreditation.
