Job summary

McDonald’s Corporation is seeking a Director of Software Engineering for the Kiosk and Restaurant Platform within the Global Technology team in Chicago. You will lead a 28-person team plus external resources, establish engineering excellence, and deliver capabilities for our POS/Kiosk apps while aligning with product roadmaps.

You will partner with Product Management, Security, Data & Analytics, and other stakeholders to drive architectural decisions, ensure quality, and manage budgets and ROI.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in technical roles with software engineering and architecture.
• 7+ years leading large software engineering teams in Agile environments.
• Experience in global matrixed organizations and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience leading large-scale change programs impacting people, process, and technology.
• Strong people management and development experience.
• Ability to communicate with multiple business areas (marketing, sales, finance, ops, tech).
• Understanding restaurant applications and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Drive strategy, design, and development of Kiosk application and Platform foundation for POS/Kiosk.
• Partner with Product Management, Solution Architecture, Data & Analytics, and Security.
• Lead architectural discussions and oversee tech delivery for internal and external resources.
• Enforce engineering and design best practices for new feature enhancement.
• Define and enforce quality standards and acceptance criteria.
• Manage security compliance and data integrity across products and platforms.
• Deliver technology solutions that enable the business to pursue its strategy.
• Manage and own milestones, budget, and ROI.
• Interface into tech org for other enterprise functions.
