Job summary

OSPI is seeking an Assistant Director, School Facilities and Organization to lead the financial operations of the K‑12 capital budget and the School Construction Assistance Program. Based in Olympia, WA, this full‑time role combines in‑office work with a flexible telework option and a career path toward the Director of School Facilities and Organization.

The successful candidate will oversee budget management, ensure policy alignment, and collaborate with program managers to advance statewide

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, architecture, engineering, construction management, public administration, or related field and four (4) years of progressive experience in financial administration, budget management, or grant administration.
• In lieu of a degree, eight years of experience in a related field can be substituted.
• Must reside in the state of Washington as a condition of employment.
• Intermittent travel will be required.
• Requires 3 days in office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of K‑12 capital programs and manage the capital budget.
• Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and agency policies.
• Provide guidance on budget proviso language and capital funding decisions.
• Lead collaboration with program managers to implement statewide capital initiatives.
• Prepare and review fiscal notes and legislative reports.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, architecture, engineering, construction management, public administration, or related field

Master’s degree in accounting, architecture, engineering, construction management, public administration or related field
