Job summary

The State of Washington's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) seeks a Comprehensive School Safety - Program Supervisor based in Olympia, Washington. This full-time role leads statewide school safety and emergency-preparedness efforts, coordinating with education, emergency management, law enforcement, and community partners.

The position oversees the SS-SWAC, manages grants and contracts, and reports on program outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, systems or organizational leadership, emergency management, education, criminal justice, public safety, public health, or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in systems coordination, cross-agency program leadership, emergency management, policy implementation, technical assistance, comprehensive school safety, or related public-sector work.
  • An equivalent combination of education and professional experience totaling seven years.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as OSPI’s comprehensive school safety lead and representative for statewide networks, legislative work, community partnerships, and cross‑agency initiatives.
  • Facilitate and staff the School Safety and Student Wellbeing Advisory Committee (SS-SWAC); lead or support related task forces and interagency meetings.
  • Coordinate with the ESD Comprehensive School Safety Coordinator Team; manage monthly meetings, shared tools, and statewide alignment.
  • Design and deliver peer learning opportunities, technical assistance, and training for districts and ESDs on emergency operations planning and related topics.
  • Monitor program implementation, grants, contracts, and data; analyze information to identify risks, disparities, and opportunities for improvement.
