Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Director, Category Management Lead to shape long-term procurement strategies across multiple categories, including IT services. You will drive supplier management, risk mitigation, and operations excellence, collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure sourcing meets business needs.

The role requires broad strategic oversight, executive presence, and a strong background in pharmaceuticals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field.
• Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or related function.
• Experience leading category management teams and reporting to senior procurement leadership.
• Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is required.

Responsibilities

• Create overarching Category Strategy with supplier strategies and governance.
• Apply data analytics to transform procurement operations and decisions.
• Lead complex programs from strategy to implementation.
• Engage with Enterprise, Operations, R&D, and IT leadership across categories.
• Develop category playbooks, negotiation strategies, and term sheets.
• Oversee Category Council alignment with regional/local requirements.
• Assemble project/supplier strategy teams for execution.
• Mitigate supplier risks at category level and ensure compliance.
