KPMG LLP seeks a Director Insurance IT M&A – Due Diligence, Integration and Separation to join our Strategy practice in New York. You will lead audits of insurance IT platforms during buy- and sell-side engagements, and drive post-close IT integration strategies to maximize value.

Responsibilities include shaping tech due diligence reports, defining operating models, and guiding cross-functional teams through complex M&A programs while leveraging AI tools for risk and timeline analytics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum eight years of recent experience in technology/business consulting and/or technology leadership, with a proven track record of leading IT transformations and advising on complex Mergers and Acquisitions transactions.
  • MBA preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee Buy-Side and Sell-Side assessments across IT domains for insurance technology platforms; identify IT risks, opportunities, and investments, and deliver executive-level due diligence reports with strategic recommendations.
  • Direct IT integration and separation initiatives across insurance transactions; oversee current state assessments, entanglement identification, operating model definitions, synergies, and Day One and post-close plans.
  • Provide thought leadership across policy administration, claims, billing, underwriting, digital distribution, and data platforms; develop go-to-market strategies for Technology Mergers and Acquisitions focused on platform modernization and data-driven transformation.
  • Establish and manage program governance, ensuring disciplined execution across complex insurance tech landscapes; implement AI-powered tools for predictive analytics on timelines and risks.

Job description

KPMG is currently seeking a Director Insurance IT M&A - Due Diligence, Integration and Separation to join our KPMG Strategy practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee comprehensive Buy-Side and Sell-Side assessments across critical IT domains for potential client acquisitions, with a focus on insurance technology platforms; identify key IT risks, opportunities, and investments needed, and deliver executive-level due diligence reports with strategic recommendations
  • Direct IT integration and separation initiatives across insurance transactions, including life, Property and Casualty , and specialty insurers; oversee development of IT current state assessments, entanglement identification, operating model definitions, synergies, and Day one and post-close plans
  • Provide thought leadership across core policy administration, claims, billing, underwriting, digital distribution, and data platforms within insurance environments; develop and execute go-to-market strategies for Technology Mergers and Acquisitionsofferings focused on insurance platform modernization, digital enablement, and data-driven transformation
  • Establish and manage program governance frameworks, ensuring disciplined execution across complex, regulated insurance technology landscapes; implement AI-powered tools for predictive analytics on project timelines and risks, and collaborate with senior cross-functional teams to identify technology dependencies, risks, and opportunities across actuarial, underwriting, claims, finance, and compliance functions
  • Facilitate strategic discussions and lead presentations with executive IT and business stakeholders, including CIOs, CTOs, and business unit leaders
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
Qualifications:
  • Minimum eight years of recent experience in technology/business consulting and/or technology leadership, with a proven track record of leading IT transformations and advising on complex Mergers and Acquisitions transactions
  • Master’s of Business Administration degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field is required
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-impact IT-focused Mergers and Acquisitions projects with expertise in at least system integration/separation, platform migration, IT architecture modernization, outsourcing of IT operations, or regulatory technology implementation; advanced program management skills, with the capacity to oversee large, complex projects and deliver strategic insights to executive audiences; familiarity with leveraging AI-powered platforms for due diligence, synergy analysis, and integration/separation planning is a significant plus
  • Proven track record leading complex technology Mergers and Acquisitions engagements (pre- and post-deal) within the Financial Services industry, covering the insurance sector; in-depth knowledge of the technology and regulatory landscape specific to Financial Services, including experience with /insurance platforms, trading systems, and the IT implications of regulatory requirements
  • Strong strategic thinking and leadership abilities with experience developing and executing IT strategies that align with business objectives; proven ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams; experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies and driving business growth in the Mergers and Acquisitionsspace, including client relationship management and engagement in business development activities
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT best practices and enterprise IT ecosystems, including major ERP and business application platforms, IT solutions, systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to serve client needed
