Job Summary:

The Director, IT Implementations and PMO is responsible for the successful execution of IT projects and the strategic alignment of initiatives with organizational goals. This includes oversight and program management of all projects, system implementations and technology initiatives to support organizational growth. This position will lead, plan, direct and coordinate the design and adoption of project management tools, templates, and methodologies to ensure appropriate project charters and governance are in place and projects are delivered successfully on time, within scope, and under budget. This includes identifying resources required to deliver approved projects, allocating resources to projects, monitoring the capacity of the team and developing the business case to acquire additional resources as needed. This individual will be responsible for creating an intake process for new requests and will partner closely with the Director, IT Infrastructure and the Director, IT Applications to determine when production support tickets should be converted to enhancements or projects and to engage infrastructure, networking and hardware teams as part of approved projects when necessary. The Director will also work closely with Operations and Finance to identify and approve capital projects, estimate hours, monitor budgets and report hours for allocation purposes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning and governance – define and implement the Program Management Office (PMO) framework, standards and methodologies; align IT project and programs with organizational strategies and business priorities; collaborate with executive leadership to establish a project intake process and maintain the IT roadmap to ensure ongoing alignment with business goals.
  • Program and project oversight – oversee the planning, execution, delivery, and go-live support of IT implementations, ensuring projects are on time, within scope and under budget; manage a portfolio of IT programs and projects, prioritizing resources and addressing risks and dependencies; act as an escalation point to resolve project challenges and remove obstacles.
  • Leadership and team management – lead and mentor a team of developers, analysts, and vendor professionals; engage with, acquire and manage contract resources as needed; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the PMO; develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and ensure ongoing training and development of staff to build a high performing team.
  • Stakeholder communication and management – serve as the primary liaison between IT teams, business units, and leadership, ensuring transparent communication; present project updates, performance metrics, and recommendations to stakeholders and executive leadership; drive stakeholder alignment and engagement throughout IT implementations.
  • Risk and quality management – identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with IT projects and programs; established quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet business and technical standards; conduct post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and enhance future projects.
  • Financial management – develop and manage budgets for the PMO and IT implementation projects; monitor financial performance and ensure cost efficiency across the portfolio of projects; provide accurate financial reporting and forecasts to leadership and finance.
  • Technology integration and innovation – drive the adoption of new tools, technologies, and leading practices to enhance project delivery and efficiency; oversee system integration and ensure that new technologies meet business and technical requirements; evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption where appropriate.

Managerial Responsibility

  • This position has direct reports.
  • Manage employees and vendors performing project and implementation work.
  • Develop and manage project-based operational and capital budgets.
  • Provide executive updates on projects, issues and plans.
  • Develop and/or maintain metrics related to project status, issues, risks, budget, and other categories as identified.
  • Develop and execute personal development plans for direct report employees.
  • Lead RFP efforts and system selections for new IT systems as needed.

Travel/Shift Requirements

  • This position may require minimum domestic or international travel.
  • Occasional work after normal business hours on an as needed basis.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to pick, lift, package, and carry IT end user equipment (approximately 30 lbs.).

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Project and Program Management: Deep understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or Trello).
  • IT Systems and Infrastructure Knowledge: Strong grasp of IT systems, software development lifecycles (SDLC), and technology implementations.
  • ERP Systems Expertise: Proficiency in ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle EBS, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or NetSuite; understanding of ERP modules related to supply chain processes, such as procurement, inventory management, demand planning, and logistics.
  • Technical Aptitude: Knowledge of system integration, data migration, and ERP configuration specific to supply chain workflows.
  • Budgeting and Financial Acumen: Proficiency in developing and managing budgets for large-scale IT programs.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to analyze data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to guide decisions and measure project success.
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire diverse teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Management: Skilled at building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including executives and cross-functional teams in operations and finance.
  • Change Management: Expertise in navigating and leading organizations through technological and operational change.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to align IT initiatives with organizational goals and deliver value through strategic planning.
  • Supply Chain Management: Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, including procurement, production, inventory, distribution, and order fulfillment.
  • Understanding of database management and software development concepts.
  • Familiarity with supply chain optimization techniques and tools.
  • Risk Management: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver clear updates, proposals, and reports; able to translate technical ERP functionalities into business terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Conflict Resolution: Strong ability to address and resolve conflicts or obstacles within teams or projects.
  • Problem-Solving: Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities to overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability: Resilience and flexibility to manage multiple priorities and adjust to shifting circumstances.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in managing project details while keeping an eye on the big picture.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or Computer Science or a related field
  • 10 years of experience in consulting, supply chain operations, ERP implementation or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or Computer Science or a related field.
