Job summary

Western Michigan University seeks a proactive Interprofessional Education Coordinator to lead and coordinate education initiatives across colleges and university health services. You will collaborate with faculty, staff and clinical partners to promote interdisciplinary learning and team-based care across diverse health environments.

The role focuses on integrating interprofessional education into curricula, leading committees, and developing a core IPE curriculum.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
• Five years of relevant experience in academic, clinical or healthcare education setting.
• Knowledge of interprofessional education principles, practices and accreditation standards.
• Experience leading cross-disciplinary initiatives or projects.
• Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate interprofessional education learning experiences across academic programs to ensure alignment with national core competencies and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with academic leadership and faculty to integrate interprofessional education into curricula and clinical practice environments.
• Lead committees and work groups to support cross-unit engagement and development of a core interprofessional education curriculum.
• Design and facilitate workshops, simulations, case-based learning, and community-based projects.
• Provide education and training on interprofessional principles and methodologies. Supports ongoing integration of interprofessional education initiatives.
• Promote integration of interprofessional education experiences within University auxiliary health services and identifies opportunities for student engagement in real-world settings.
• Foster partnerships with external healthcare organizations to support collaborative learning and practice.
• Leads development, implementation, and evaluation of interprofessional education initiatives. Assesses effectiveness using data to support continuous improvement and communicate outcomes.
• Pursues external funding opportunities and supports grant writing efforts to sustain and expand interprofessional education programs.
• Represents the University at institutional and regional interprofessional education initiatives, conferences, and partnership activities.
