Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Director of Internal Audit to lead the Office of Internal Audit Leadership Team. The role focuses on strengthening audit quality, performance and continuous improvement, reporting to the AVP, Internal Audit - Professional Practices.

You will guide strategic practices to support Nationwide's priorities. The position involves overseeing quality assurance engagements, using analytics and AI, and partnering with senior leaders to provide risk insights.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in internal audit, risk management or related field.
• Strong knowledge of audit practices, risk assessment and quality programs.
• Ability to lead complex initiatives across an enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Lead IA Quality Assurance and Improvement Program, including testing and lookback reviews.
• Drive audit performance using data analytics, generative AI, and audit technology.
• Provide risk insights to support audit planning and risk assessment.
• Lead complex QA engagements from planning through reporting with sound risk assessment.
• Partner with CAE, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance and Controllership.
• Lead strategic initiatives and respond to evolving standards and business risks.
• Develop communications for senior leaders and mentor IA associates.
• Manage and coach a team of approximately 2–4 associates.
