Atom Computing, Inc. is seeking a Head of Photonics to establish and lead our integrated photonics program in Boulder. You will define the photonics strategy, select material platforms, and drive development from concept to hardware in our quantum computers.

You will build an in-house team, manage external partnerships with foundries and suppliers, and translate qubit requirements into device specifications. Prior atomic physics experience is not required.

Qualifications

• PhD in EE, Physics, Optical Sciences, Applied Physics or related field.
• 8+ years of post-PhD experience in integrated photonics with PIC programs.
• Demonstrated experience building and leading technical teams.
• Ability to manage external development partners, including writing specs and driving multi-party programs to schedule.
• Strong communication with physicists, engineers, executives, and external partners.

Responsabilités

• Define and own the integrated photonics roadmap. Assess material platforms and architectures against system requirements and make downselect decisions.
• Lead PIC development programs from specification through design, fabrication, test, packaging, and integration into our quantum computers.
• Build and lead an in-house photonics team with design, simulation, test, and integration capabilities.
• Serve as technical lead for partnerships with foundries, suppliers, and photonics companies.
• Scout and evaluate emerging photonic technologies that could enable new qubit control approaches.
• Generate intellectual property and communicate results internally and externally when appropriate.
