Qualifications

• 12+ years in Product Management or related roles in insurance, annuities, or regulated financial services.
• Proven leadership experience coaching Product Managers or similar professionals.
• Deep understanding of policy administration systems and insurance operational platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and software development lifecycles.
• Ability to work onsite a minimum of three days per week while collaborating with executives and stakeholders.

Piper Companies is hiring a Director, Insurance Product Management for an award-winning company located in the Raleigh-Durham Area The Director, Insurance Product Management is responsible for the execution and delivery of oversight of internal insurance systems and operational capabilities that support annuity insurance.

The Director, Insurance Product Management role is a hybrid position located in Durham, NC.

Responsibilities of the Director, Insurance Product Management Include:

• Lead the execution of the product roadmap across policy administration and insurance operations platforms, ensuring key initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Product Managers, driving accountability, prioritization, stakeholder engagement, and successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
• Serve as the business owner for policy administration and related insurance systems, translating business needs into product strategies, requirements, roadmaps, and operational improvements.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders across Operations, Actuarial, Finance, Accounting, Compliance, Technology, Data, Distribution, and third-party vendors to resolve dependencies, align priorities, and support organizational goals.
• Drive continuous improvement across insurance platforms by overseeing requirements gathering, backlog management, release planning, business readiness, issue resolution, vendor management, and operational performance reporting.

Qualifications of the Director, Insurance Product Management include:

• 12+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Business Analysis, or related enterprise application leadership roles, with a strong background in insurance, annuities, life insurance, or highly regulated financial services environments.
• Proven leadership experience managing and coaching Product Managers or similar professionals, with a demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and drive execution across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Deep understanding of policy administration systems and insurance operational platforms, including experience serving as the business owner or product owner for core insurance applications and processes.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies, software development lifecycles, enterprise integrations, APIs, workflow automation, data exchange, and business process optimization.
• Ability to work onsite a minimum of three days per week while effectively collaborating with executive leadership, business stakeholders, technology teams, and external partners to drive strategic outcomes and operational excellence.

Compensation for the Director, Insurance Product Management include:

• 170,000-180,000 plus bonus
