Job summary

Carboline, a St. Louis-based coatings manufacturer, seeks a Director of Inside Technical Service to lead the Inside Technical Service team and partner with Sales, Operations, Quality, and customers.

This leadership role guides technical strategy, mentors engineers, supports major customer initiatives, and drives continuous improvement across coatings performance and service. The position emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, ISO and industry-standard compliance, and a focus on delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of Technical Service experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership/management experience.
• Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and mentor Technical Service Engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
• Partner closely with Sales Leadership and Commercial teams to support business growth, strengthen customer relationships, and resolve complex product or application challenges.
• Serve as a senior technical resource for key customers, helping drive successful project outcomes and long-term customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and Operations teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve overall product performance.
• Drive quality initiatives, support ISO compliance efforts, and advance internal auditing and continuous improvement programs.
• Provide technical leadership on challenging projects, coating performance issues, and field application concerns.
• Review and evaluate corporate allowance requests while partnering with internal stakeholders to minimize business impact and improve customer outcomes.
• Maintain expertise in industry standards, regulations, and best practices, including NACE/AMPP, SSPC, ANSI, AWWA, maritime, and other relevant specifications.
